I’m Back! Here’s what I’ve Been Up To

I’ve taken a hiatus from multi-media. To be honest,  it’s been about 4 years. So much has happened since then! Firstly, I had a baby girl (who is not so babyish anymore). She’s now a preschooler and will start Junior Kindergarten this September. I have mixed feelings over this. I’m sad we won’t have our full days together, but I’m also excited to throw everything into my Naturopathic practice here in the Toronto, Beaches. My work hours will increase, and I’ll have so much more time to share health tips, give my favourite recipes, go over some awesome success stories, and stay connected in general.

Being a full time parent and working during a global pandemic

Parenting during a global pandemic has not been the easiest (insert understatement of the century here). Despite the work/life balance struggles, I’ve loved seeing my clients feel better under my care. It’s a huge motivator to see chronic autoimmune conditions go into remission or hormone dysfunctions corrected. When clients are happy, it makes the late nights and lack of sleep worth it.

I’ve also been a clinic supervisor at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine for the past six years and love it. It’s so rewarding to see my students grow from insecure interns to confident clinicians over a year period.  Before the pandemic, we went to many sporting events and offered Naturopathic care for injury management to the athletes. I miss those days, and look forward to when this pandemic is nothing but an after thought.

Our Clinic Moved!

The clinic I’ve been working at for almost 10 years, Omega Health and Fitness, has moved two blocks East! I have to chuckle because this move has doubled my commute time from a 5 min walk to a 10 min one. I feel like one lucky Torontonian to be able to walk to work like this. Every morning when I hear the news about traffic jams on the 401 and 90 min delays, I thank the stars that’s not my life.

The new clinic itself is gorgeous. There’s ample natural light, and a brand new state of the art HVAC system to help clean the air – something that is on the top of all our minds these days.

Our team consists of Massage therapists, Chiropractors, Physiotherapists, Personal trainers and Yoga instructors – everything needed for optimal wellness.

Telemedicine is at the Forefront

Another change since this pandemic has been the huge success of telemedicine. At least half my clients are now online, which has allowed me to expand my practice to all over Ontario. It’s amazing what can be done from home. All blood labs can be ordered and supplements can be delivered right to the doorstep through an online dispensary. I also purchased some fancy meal planning software that has been a game changer in keeping my clients on track. Individual programs supporting menopause, weight management, sports nutrition, immunity, fertility, cardiovascular disease, and much more have been created.

Parting Thoughts

Although my time won’t free up completely until September,  I’m going to do my very best to make these posts a regular occurrence. I have so much to share about Naturopathic Medicine,  I just can’t wait that long!

If you personally want to hear more about how Naturopathic Medicine can help you, I’m offering complementary 10 min discovery calls to see if we’re a good fit. There are no sales pitches, strings or commitments – it’s just seeing if I can help you in any way. Consults can be booked online here, with both virtual and in-person options available.
